It’s a good quality desk overall. However, the drawer is kind of annoying. It’s not held in place by tracks to limit its movement, so once you pull it out more than half way, it will tilt downwards, and you have to do some adjusting in order to push it back in.
One of the hinges on my desk was assembled wrong. The instructions come with a missing parts request form, so that’s kind of convenient.
The assembly was a pain. If you look at the picture, there is a wood plug at the top on the side that covers a hole where a hex screw is supposed to go. A hex key is included, but because the top panel goes over the side by a good inch, you can only turn the screw by inserting the long end of the key and turning it using the short end. Having just moved into a new place, I didn’t have a wrench handy or anything that would have made this easier.
Also, some tips contrary to the instructions: hammer in all the little metal pegs FIRST, and only insert the wooden dowels into the drawer AFTER you’ve pushed it into the opening.
Update: Initially I gave this desk a worse rating, as I’d just finished assembling it, which took me twice as long as it should have, due to the complications described above. However, I’m really enjoying it now. It provides decent storage space and a writing surface while taking up very little room. If that’s what you need, this gets it done.

This desk was fairly easy to put together but there were several places that were marred. You could tell one was done at the factory. The others were a result of poor packing. It works great.

This is the second Winsome Wood product I’ve bought. The first was the smaller WW secretary desk which I sent back because it was so shabbily built that it couldn’t even be assembled properly. I hoped this model would be better, and it is except that (like the smaller one, but not quite as bad) it arrived with dings and scrapes on the face frame which appear to be due to sloppy handling at the factory, not by the carrier, as all the packaging materials were intact. Winsome Wood has the lowest prices around for solid wood furniture, so it might be too much to expect the best in quality control. I kept this desk in spite of these shortcomings because it is pretty, well-built, and the lowest price I could find for this size desk. Anyway, I’m sure it will get plenty more dings and scrapes in my house and then I’ll be able to call it “shabby-chic.” I’m also glad I got a bigger size.
I was glad for the advice from a previous reviewer about putting the drawer in its hole before putting the stopper dowels in it. The picture-only directions didn’t make that obvious, but it is important, since you won’t be able to get it in the hole if you put the dowels in first.
